Michael Crawford's original compositions for double quartet

Excerpts from original compositions based on/inspired by various pieces from Troy Roberts' album, The XenDen Suite. The double quartet comprises of a string quartet and a jazz quartet, and the music composed for this ensemble reflects the incorporation of classical and jazz elements.
Filmed for one of two MMA (jazz performance) recitals at the New Zealand School of Music.

"Patagonia" (Original Composition for Big Band)

Apologies for the MIDI! An original composition/arrangement for big band, written based on 2 parallel blues progressions (each in relative major/minor keys). The idea was to alternate between 4 bars of the Major blues, then 4 bars of the minor etc.(with II-V-I progressions added to make the changes sound less random), in effect making the whole progression 24 bars long before it repeats. The name comes from watching Bear Grylls on "Man vs. Wild"!
